SUPPLY CHAIN DIGITALIZATION ON PERFORMANCE OF FAST-MOVING CONSUMER GOODS MANUFACTURERS IN NAIROBI CITY COUNTY, KENYA

Abstract

The main objective of the study was to establish the effect of supply chain digitalization on performance of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Manufacturers in Nairobi City, Kenya. The research focused on the effect of digital firm supplier communication, and digital order taking on performance of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Manufacturers in Nairobi City, Kenya. A descriptive research design was applied in this study. This study targeted the 51 FMCG manufacturers located in Nairobi. The study adopted the census sampling method since the respondents are not much. Primary data was collected through the use of structured questionnaires. The researcher analyzed the quantitative data using descriptive statistics by applying the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS V.27.0) and presented the results through percentages, means, standard deviations and frequencies. The qualitative data was analyzed using content analysis. In addition, the researcher conducted a multiple regression analysis. The information was displayed by use of tables and in prose form. The study found that digital firm-supplier communication: promotes enhanced feedback to both the organization and suppliers and provides good relationship and better customer services. The research established that digital order-taking leads to reduction on stock holding improving organization-supplier performance. The study recommends management of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Manufacturers in Nairobi City to ensure they remain informed on the changes in the market to ensure that their warehouse management system is up-to-date and therefore avoid process redundancy and inaccurate inventories. [1]
